The appointment with my RE went well. Contrary to my fears he did not freak out and get mad about us getting accidentally pregnant before we had a chance to try the injectables. He just laughed and called me Fertile Myrtle. He ordered betas every 48 hours for the next week (or longer depending on how the numbers look). He wrote me a script for progesterone suppositories and we booked an ultrasound for Aug 14th. We go back to see him on Aug 17th as long as everything goes smoothly. All in all, a great appointment. He was so optimistic about everything and I'm such a skeptic. Well I guess it's good that one of us is hopeful.
We are leaving tomorrow for a quick trip to Toronto to see my sister and BIL and nieces. My RE gave me an extra req. for the beta so I could get it done down there on Friday. I'm looking forward to the trip. I had to let my sister in on the big secret since I'll need to find a lab near her house and sneak off to get the bloodwork done on Friday and also my progesterone sups have to be stored in the fridge so it would be tough to hide them from her. She was excited and shocked and worried. I love her!

Wow, you really are quite fertile, aren't you? Personally, I'd just take a break while out of town and not bother getting the bloods done. Knowing what your HCG is doing every 48 hours certainly won't change anything - I found it less nerve-wracking this time having only the two betas at 20dpo and 25dpo to reassure me things were on track. Beta hell with my first pregnancy and loss was no joy to live through, and having more numbers to obsess over really didn't make me feel much better.
ReplyDeleteI haven't even asked for another progesterone test this time, assuming that if my levels were at 117 at 20dpo, they'll be even better later on with higher HCG levels.
At any rate, I'm glad that your RE is optimistic, and I hope all works out this time around.
I'm glad you had a good appointment with the RE, and even more glad for your supportive sister. Keep me posted - I can't wait to hear your beta levels.
